About Spirits

While it is easy to direct all one’s attention to wine, France is also home to an array of classic spirits that are essential additions to any well-stocked bar. Cognac is the “grand-pére” of all brandy, along with its more rustic and hearty cousin, Armagnac. However, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Chartreuse and Absinthe were all created in France. Every French region has a specialty eau-de-vie or marc, made from local grapes, usually taken after dinner to enhance digestion.
